"Kelp!" & "The Green Buffalo" films showcased at QC Environmental Film Series Feb. 15

   The  2026 QC Environmental Film Series  continues on Sunday, February 15 with a DOUBLE FEATURE presentation of the short documentaries Kelp! and The Green Buffalo . The films screen  at  St. Ambrose University's Galvin Fine Arts Center ,  518 W Locust St. Davenport, Iowa. The QCEFS event begins at 2pm with ENVIRO Connect featuring networking exhibits with local environmental groups and organizations. The film program begins at 3pm, followed by a Q&A with special guest speakers. Film Synopsis: After a young designer realizes that a surfboard – which he crafted from thousands of littered cigarette butts picked up off California beaches – could captivate the eyes of millions across the globe, he decides to use it as the impetus to do something more. The Cigarette Surfboards become a platform to spark ocean stewardship and the symbol of a campaign to hold Big Tobacco accountable for their toxic, plastic waste. The  2026 QC Environmental Film Series  will showcase the award-winning documentary "Out of Plain Sight" on Sunday, January 25th at St. Ambrose University's Galvin Fine Arts Center ,  518 W Locust St. Davenport, Iowa. Filmmaker and Los Angeles Times investigative reporter Rosanna Xia will appear at the screening of her film and take part in Q&A afterward. Rosanna Xia, co-director of "Out of Plain Sight" and Los Angeles Times investigative reporter. At 2pm attendees can network at ENVIRO Connect featuring local environmental groups and organizations. QC Environmental Film Series 2026 showcases 7 excellent documentaries Jan. 18-March 1

  The  7th Annual QC Environmental Film Series  kicks off on Sundays from Jan. 18 to March 1 at the  St. Ambrose Galvin Fine Arts Center theater , 2101 Gaines Street in Davenport. Film presentations begin at 3 p.m. But attendees are invited to join in on ENVIRO Connect networking opportunities at 2 p.m. (prior to the showings). A special Reflection Speaker will follow the film. The first film,  Out There: A National Parks Story , will be shown  Sunday, Jan. 18 . The documentary chronicles what began as a summer road trip as it becomes a seven-year odyssey, capturing untold stories of those who protect, visit, and find healing in the parks. (75 minutes) Effigy Mounds National Monument  Superintendent Susan Snow will be the Reflection Speaker after the film screening. QCEFS has grown in popularity each year causing the organization to move from the Figge to a new venue this year to accommodate its capacity audiences.
