2026 QC Environmental Film Series Announces its Official Selections By-Invitation

 

The 2026 QC Environmental Film Series opens January 18 and runs through March 1 showcasing award-winning documentary films and reflection speakers. QCEFS has grown in popularity each year causing the organization to move from the Figge to a new venue this year to accommodate its capacity audiences.
Films screen on Sundays (except for February 22) at St. Ambrose University's Galvin Fine Arts Center, 518 W Locust St. Davenport, Iowa. At 2pm attendees can network at ENVIRO Connect featuring local environmental groups and organizations. The film programs begin at 3pm and are followed up with Q&A with a special guest speaker.

This year's QC Environmental Film Series Official Selections By-Invitation include: "Out There: A National Parks Story", "Out of Plain Sight", "Beaver Fever", "The Cigarette Surfboard", a Double Feature: "Kelp!" and "The Green Buffalo", and "Reef Builders".

Admission is $10/pp. Season passes are $40. Students are free (with student ID). Visit QCEnvironmentalFilmSeries.org for film details and ticket information.

4-H in the City's award-winning documentary "Salute to Service" is set to air on WQPT-PBS on Sunday, December 7th , Pearl Harbor Day, at 4 PM  and again at about 5:45 PM, and then again on December 11 at 9 PM. Oscar Micheaux—the “Spike Lee” of 1920s Cinema—documentary & silent feature to screen by Truth First Film Alliance at The Last Picture House

Oscar Micheaux portrait by artist Bruce Walters. An Illinois-born pioneer independent filmmaker and former Iowa resident’s story will be revealed onscreen in the feature-length documentary  “Oscar Micheaux : The Superhero of Black Filmmaking”  on  Sunday, March 22 at 2 p.m.  at The Last Picture House  325 E. 2nd Street, Davenport.  A virtual post-screening discussion follows with special guest historian Jordan Bell , from Roanoke, Virginia. Micheaux’s 1920 silent film “Within our Gates” will screen at 4:15 p.m . Admittance to this special event is FREE. Seating for both shows is limited.
