4-H in the City's "Salute to Service" premieres Saturday, October 25
Team 4-H in the City and leader Lori Tharp was on KWQC's Quad Cities Live! talking about their award-winning documentary "Salute to Service".
The short documentary premieres Saturday, Oct. 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the Moline Public Library, 3210 41st St, Moline, IL. Q&A with the Veterans featured in the film and the filmmakers will follow! FREE to the public.
Truth First Film Alliance was a proud sponsor of this year-long project, with TFFA co-executive directors Kelly and Tammy Rundle mentoring the Clubbers through development and production. Library Director Victoria Blackmer, Coal Valley's Robert R. Jones Public Library supplied production equipment for the 4-H Club's Veteran interviews. The Rundles' Fourth Wall Films mentored the 4-H group (ages 10-18) through the editing process.
Led by 4-H Leader Lori Tharp, Club Members Maya Boehle, Olivia Boehle, Nadiya Hernandez, Emily Herrick, Noah Herrick, Kolbie Pettit and Carter Tharp spent approximately one year planning and producing the documentary featuring seven Quad Cities Veterans who shared their memories and experiences:
SGT Robert Douglas (Marine)
SPC Fred L. Hernandez (Army)
Col. Susan Kuehl (Air Force)
PO Ronald Mlekush (Navy)
SFC Lisa Olson (Army)
SSG Don Wentler (Army)
SN Roald Zvonik (Navy)
The film recently competed in the Rock Island County Fair's Civic Engagement - Group Presentation and received two awards: the State Fair Delegate Award & the Best of Show.
The 4-H team is deeply grateful to the seven Veterans who sat down in front of the camera to share their stories, photographs and memorabilia for the documentary project, and most importantly for their service and dedication to our country.
